THE STAND Blog is the place to find personal insights and perspectives from writers who respond to current cultural topics by promoting faith and defending the family.
THE STAND Magazine is AFA’s monthly publication that filters the culture’s endless stream of information through a grid of scriptural truth. It is chock-full of new stories, feature articles, commentaries, and more that encourage Christians to step out in faith and action.
TUPELO, Miss.—American Family Association (AFA,www.afa.net) is applauding the state of Texas for standing strong against Target’s harmful bathroom policy that gives males who identify as females access to women’s restrooms and fitting rooms.
According to an exclusive story from Fox News’ Todd Starnes, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton recently wrote a letter to Target’s CEO, requesting that the retail giant release its plans on how to keep women and children safe in store restrooms and fitting rooms. “It is possible that allowing men in women’s restrooms could lead to criminal and otherwise unwanted activity,” the letter read. The Attorney General also stated, “As chief lawyer and law enforcement officer for the State of Texas, I ask that you provide the full text of Target’s safety policies regarding the protection of women and children from those who would use the cover of Target’s restroom policy for nefarious purposes.” Paxton’s letter was obtained exclusively by Fox News.
AFA spokesperson Walker Wildmon told Starnes for the story, “What he’s asking in this letter is exactly what we’ve been asking Target to answer. What about women and children? What about men who pretend to be women and go into these bathrooms just so they can prey on women?
“It’s fabulous that someone in leadership in our country is stepping up to the plate and asking the tough questions that need to be asked,” Wildmon added.
Nearly 1.2 million have signed AFA’s #BoycottTarget pledge, and AFA is asking other concerned citizens to take action in the campaign in three ways:
