Target—The Scariest Place on Earth? (2)

Tuesday, November 01, 2016 @ 09:25 AM

Tonight, Americans around the country are in store for a scary evening, but Target stores nationwide can be scary places, too. The American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) has been bringing awareness to Target’s dangerous and controversial restroom and fitting room policy, which puts American families at risk and alienates them as shoppers.

Consider interviewing AFA’s Tim Wildmon or Abraham Hamilton about this timely story.

A few ideas to consider for your coverage:

  • AFA has been sharing in an Action Alert to its more than one million friends and supporters 10 frightening examples of men taking advantage of Target’s dangerous policy and entering women’s restrooms and fitting rooms.
  • Target stock recently reached a 52-week low ($67.71 on Oct. 20). Read more here. Target reported dismal second-quarter earnings, and third-quarter earnings are expected in mid-November.
  • With nearly 1.5 million signatures, the #BoycottTarget pledge continues to make an impact.
  • Target is heading into a highly competitive holiday season, and headlines about these frightening incidents and falling revenues won’t help.
