American Family Association Commends President Trump for Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital
TUPELO, Miss.—After President Donald Trump officially announced that the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and begin preparations to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) released the following statement.
“The American Family Association commends President Trump for staying true to the issues most important to Christians and fulfilling his campaign promises,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “He is correct when he says the move is a ‘long overdue step’ to advance peace in the Middle East. Generations of Christians know that Israelites are God’s chosen people and that Israel’s allies must never waver in their support of the nation.”
BBC News reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today was a historic day and that Israel was profoundly grateful to President Trump. Fox News also reported that Vice President Mike Pence would be traveling to the region in the coming days.
