Franklin Graham Joins American Family Association President Tim Wildmon on ‘Today’s Issues’ to Discuss Day of Prayer for the President

Thursday, May 30, 2019 @ 03:17 PM

TUPELO, Miss.—Evangelical leaders Franklin Graham and American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) President Tim Wildmon discussed Thursday on the American Family Radio program, “Today’s Issues,” the importance of Sunday’s “Special Day of Prayer for the President.”

Graham has led the charge for the prayer observance, and more than 250 leaders have joined him in calling for the prayer time for President Donald Trump on June 2.

“President Trump’s enemies continue to try everything to destroy him, his family, and the presidency,” Graham said in a statement. “In the history of our country, no president has been attacked as he has. I believe the only hope for him, and this nation, is God. This is a critical time for America. We’re on the edge of a precipice. Time is short. We need to pray for God to intervene. We need to ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage, and guide the President.”

Added Wildmon, “Ever since Donald Trump announced his plans for the presidency, he has been attacked from all sides. Now, he is leading our country and the attacks have not subsided; in fact, they’ve heightened. Sunday’s special ‘Day of Prayer for the President’ will allow the faithful to come together to pray for our leader, as every Christian should. A country that is not held together by prayer will not survive. The American Family Association calls on every family, pastor and church this Sunday to pray for our president—for his wisdom, peace and strength.”

On the program, Graham and Wildmon discussed the attacks on President Trump, as well as the need for Christians and churches to pray for him and his family. Listen to the “Today’s Issues” interview with Franklin Graham here (segment begins at 12:04).

Wildmon also noted that AFA petitioned its friends and supporters to sign on to a commitment to pray for the president on June 2. Thus far, more than 13,000 have responded positively.

The ‘Special Day of Prayer for the President’ statement signed by the leaders reads:

We the undersigned are calling for June 2 to be a special Day of Prayer for the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, that God would protect, strengthen, embolden, and direct him.

We believe our nation is at a crossroads, at a dangerous precipice. The only one who can fix our country’s problems is God Himself, and we pray that God will bless our president and our nation for His glory.
