American Family Association Leads Petition to Support Texas Father Who Is Protecting His Son
TUPELO, Miss.—As a Texas father makes headlines for fighting to protect his son, American Family Association (AFA, www.afa.net) is supporting him through prayers and a petition.
Jeffrey Younger has been in court with his ex-wife, Dr. Anne Georgulas, over the claim that she’s coerced their son, James, to identify, dress and socialize as a girl. James’ mother has declared she wants to transition the 7-year-old boy into a girl by calling him “Luna.”
“We hope thousands of Christians will sign the American Family Association petition in support of Jeffrey Younger who’s fighting for what’s right for his son,” said AFA President Tim Wildmon. “AFA will personally deliver the petition expressing the prayers and support of the faithful around the country for Jeffrey and James. Let us also pray that the child’s mother will turn to God and change her intentions that are harmful and confusing to this little boy.”
According to CBN News, a jury initially ruled against giving Younger sole custody of James, who took action after Georgulas attempted legally to force the boy’s father to treat James as a girl. LifeSite News also reported that Georgulas may desire to give James puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.
In a positive turn for Younger, on Thursday, a court handed down its decision that both parents will have a joint conservatorship over the boy.
“Dr. Georgulas’s desire to ‘transition’ their son from male to female could possibly include her desire for James to undergo chemical castration,” Wildmon added. “This medical ‘treatment’ would halt puberty or the biological development of his sex. This is unconscionable, but there is no Texas law against such action.”
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stated in a news release that “Texans understand that children ... should be supported and properly cared for as they grow up in our communities. I trust that DFPS (Department of Family and Protective Services) will act immediately upon our request, conduct a thorough investigation, and protect this child.”
LifeSiteNews also reported: “Since kindergarten, Dr. Georgulas has enrolled James in school as a girl under the name ‘Luna.’ She began telling him he’s a girl when he was just 3, and testified in court that she began to believe that when he liked a McDonald’s toy meant for girls. James’ pediatrician records also indicate Dr. Georgulas has met with GENECIS, a medical ‘transition’ clinic in Dallas, and is considering ‘hormone suppression’ when James is closer to 8 or 9 years old.” Younger has also said that his son “chooses boys’ clothes and goes by his given name ‘James’ when he’s with him.”
Those wishing to show support for Jeffrey Younger and James may sign the AFA online petition, which reads:
“Thank you for your resolve to protect and defend your son, James. Both of you will be in my prayers. Dr. Georgulas, James’ mother, who’s led him down the ‘transgender’ path, will also be in my prayers. I rejoice with you that the court protected your right to make joint decisions on medical decisions for James.”
