American Family Association Stands Firm Against Overreaching Government Mandates

Monday, November 08, 2021 @ 08:25 AM

TUPELO, Miss. — In a controversial move, the current administration issued the most restrictive mandate regarding the COVID-19 vaccine yet. The new ruling orders private companies with 100 or more employees to force them to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 4 or be tested for the virus weekly.

This latest mandate has been met with backlash from organizations across the country, with many calling the ruling unconstitutional and an infringement on their Constitutional rights. On Saturday November 6, a federal appeals court temporarily halted the mandate pending further investigation in response to a joint petition from several states including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Utah. American Family Association(AFA,afa.net) was one of the petitioners the 5th Circuit responded to when it stayed the mandate.

AFA General Counsel Abraham Hamilton III commented on this new draconian mandate from the government.

“American Family Association is a Christian organization,” Hamilton stated. “As such, we conduct every aspect of our operation according to our Statement of Faith, which is recognized and protected by the U.S. Constitution and congressional statute. We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God. It teaches us that the right of conscience is sacred and must remain inviolate. Any mandate that forces us to compel our employees, our AFA family, to be vaccinated against their wills is one that would require us to violate our family’s sacred right of conscience. That is something we cannot and will not do!”

Hamilton continued, “The federal government has no authority whatsoever to compel us to intrude upon our employees’ personal health decisions and violate their sacred rights of conscience. The Biden administration’s edict is the latest example of its utter disdain and contempt for both our Constitution and millions of Americans’ sincerely held religious beliefs. We are not the Federal Government’s enforcement arm to compel the American people to choose between their livelihood and their freedom. This is a grotesque abuse of power, and we will not be party to it. We also refuse to incur the costs for implementing this testing regime and the attendant liability for inserting ourselves into our employees’ private health.

“The United States of America is a constitutional republic,” Hamilton stated. “We are not a monarchy and we, the people, will not abide a dictatorship. The current administration seems to require a reminder of that fact. This abuse of executive power has become the occasion to provoke such a reminder.”

In response to this new ruling, AFA is taking legal action to ensure that its constitutional rights are protected against the Biden administration’s extreme mandate.
