 TUPELO, Miss. — Just two years after Arizona lawmakers reversed a ban on HIV/AIDS instruction that “promotes a homosexual lifestyle,” they have now approved revamping the state’s sex education laws to create some of the strictest in the nation concerning the teaching of LGBTQ issues in the classroom.

 The initiative is presented as a parental rights issue and would require schools to get parents’ permission for discussions about gender identity, sexual orientation or HIV/AIDS in sex education classes. The bill passed the Republican-controlled House last week, with Democrats stating that “it would harm LGBTQ children.” The bill has already passed the Senate and will next go to Arizona’s Republican Gov. Doug Ducey for his signature.

 “Christian parents and other conservatives need to make sure they know what is going on in their public schools and then get active,” stated Ed Vitagliano, executive vice president of the American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net). “Parenting has never been a spectator sport, but it has never been more important for them to be involved in what schools are teaching their kids. Just as radical Marxists and other leftists took over colleges and universities, they are now attempting to do the same with the public school systems across the nation. What they are teaching––and what they want to teach––could turn an entire generation of children against their own nation and, even worse, against God.

 “As we see in this push by conservatives in Arizona, many parents are waking up to the dangerous ideology of the sex and gender radicals. When it was first introduced, this ideology was cloaked by the simple plea for safety and compassion. But now the wolf has thrown off the wool. This is about the overthrow of Christian morality and the introduction of children to pagan sexuality. Now is not the time for parental passivity, but action.”
