AFA Action stands firm against extremist Nancy Abudu 11th Circuit nomination; urges Americans to contact senators to oppose renomination
TUPELO, Miss. — President Joe Biden recently renominated Nancy Abudu, a radical political activist employed by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), to serve on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Abudu currently serves as the strategic litigation director for SPLC.
Her former nomination was held in limbo only by an 11-11 tie vote of the Senate Judiciary Committee until her nomination expired on January 3, 2023. On that same day, President Joe Biden immediately renominated her.
AFA Action, the government affairs affiliate of the American Family Association, vehemently opposes Abudu’s nomination. The SPLC is the well from which the American left draws to “prove” that groups or people they disagree with politically are hateful. The people who write checks to the SPLC are the same people who believe that conservative Christians are what is wrong with America today. Using distortion and quotes out of context, the SPLC loves to scare Americans into thinking that KKK-style hatred is on the rise again and the SPLC must keep this from happening. Evidently, the fear-mongering works: the SPLC, a 501(c)3 ‘non-profit,’ has raised over $500 million, much of which is sitting in offshore bank accounts.
Abudu’s previous legal advocacy for SPLC strongly indicates she will exercise unconstitutional and liberal ideology on the federal bench. The result could be the destruction of religious liberty and the rights of Christians across the country. Abudu’s work for such a radical organization shows how unsuitable she is for the federal bench.
“Nancy Abudu is easily one of the most radical nominations to the federal bench in our nation’s history,” said AFAA Senior Counsel Phillip Jauregui. “After litigating a case in our U.S. federal courts, she filed a ‘shadow report’ with the United Nations. This shocking invitation for the U.N. to involve itself with U.S. law is an affront to our constitution and a threat to our national sovereignty.
“Moreover, Abudu has a long record of asking judges to legislate from the bench on a laundry list of liberal political causes. She opposes common sense laws that require proof of citizenship and photo ID to vote, believes that common sense laws prohibiting criminals from voting is ‘practically the same system as during slavery,’ and has a history of ruling against the rights of Christians even while she works for a group that designates Christians as members of hate groups.
“Abudu’s activism threatens American sovereignty and our U.S. constitution. She attempts to misuse our courts to legislate radical leftist ideology from the bench. The U.S. Senate should never reward her with a federal judgeship.”
