THE STAND Blog is the place to find personal insights and perspectives from writers who respond to current cultural topics by promoting faith and defending the family.
THE STAND Magazine is AFA’s monthly publication that filters the culture’s endless stream of information through a grid of scriptural truth. It is chock-full of new stories, feature articles, commentaries, and more that encourage Christians to step out in faith and action.
TUPELO, Miss. — In a federal appeals court on December 5, parents from Maryland appealed to have the right to opt their children out of LGBTQ gender and sexuality storybooks as they see these books as “forced inculcation.” A nonprofit religious rights law firm is supporting parents of the Muslim, Jewish and Christian faiths that are fighting to be able to teach their children in a manner consistent with their faiths. The Mahmoud v. McKnight court case resulted from the Montgomery County Board of Education taking away parental notice and opt-outs for books that push the topics of Pride parades, preference of pronouns and gender transitioning for children as young as the age of four.
American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) President Tim Wildmon expressed his concern towards the way in which LGBTQ ideologies are being integrated into the lives of children.
“In blue states like Maryland, Christians and other people of faith can see the dystopian vision of the radical left unfold before their very eyes,” said Wildmon. “In that vision, the state will determine to what ideological camp your children will belong; it will indoctrinate them in that belief system; it will isolate and circumvent parents and make state bureaucrats parental surrogates; and finally, it will begin the process of punishing those who protest this wicked agenda. The only thing more shocking than the speed of this transition to anti-God tyranny is the arrogance of those who are pushing it.”
For over 40 years, AFA has operated within the mission to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission. Founded in 1977, AFA has long been on the front lines of America’s culture war. Today, AFA is one of the largest and most effective pro-family organizations in the country, with nearly a million online supporters and approximately 110,000 subscribers to The Stand (formerly known as the AFA Journal), the ministry’s monthly magazine. Find AFA Action Alerts here. In addition, AFA owns and operates nearly 180 radio stations across the country under the American Family Radio banner.
