THE STAND Blog is the place to find personal insights and perspectives from writers who respond to current cultural topics by promoting faith and defending the family.
THE STAND Magazine is AFA’s monthly publication that filters the culture’s endless stream of information through a grid of scriptural truth. It is chock-full of new stories, feature articles, commentaries, and more that encourage Christians to step out in faith and action.
TUPELO, Miss. — In a new study conducted by the Institute of Labor and economics, it has been reported that 32,000 babies were born in states that have authorized abortion restrictions. The study revealed, “Our primary analysis indicates that in the first six months of 2023, births rose by an average of 2.3 percent in states enforcing total abortion bans compared to a control group of states where abortion rights remained protected, amounting to approximately 32,000 additional annual births resulting from abortion bans.” The study further concluded that in the US, 23% of reproductive age women have encountered an increase in driving distance to the nearest abortion facility.
American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) President Tim Wildmon stated that saving the lives of these unborn babies is truly something to celebrate.
“The saving of the lives of so many unborn children is truly wondrous and something to celebrate,” said Wildmon. “Every true Christian should be thankful to God Almighty that these precious babies will now have a chance to grow up and live their lives as the Creator intended. While there have certainly been some disappointing political defeats in the aftermath of Dobbs, the pro-life community has always wanted this issue to be hammered out in states –– where it belongs. These defeats will only encourage pro-lifers to pray harder and work more diligently to protect thousands more precious children.”
For over 40 years, AFA has operated within the mission to inform, equip, and activate individuals to strengthen the moral foundations of American culture and give aid to the church here and abroad in its task of fulfilling the Great Commission. Founded in 1977, AFA has long been on the front lines of America’s culture war. Today, AFA is one of the largest and most effective pro-family organizations in the country, with nearly a million online supporters and approximately 110,000 subscribers to The Stand (formerly known as the AFA Journal), the ministry’s monthly magazine.
