Court rules in favor of Christian healthcare workers; cannot be forced to perform trans surgery

TUPELO, Miss. — The U.S. District Court of the District of North Dakota ruled in favor of Christian healthcare workers by granting them the freedom to refuse to perform elective, body-disfiguring surgeries for transgender individuals. The court order read, “CEA’s sincerely held religious belief is that male and female are immutable realities defined by biological sex and that gender reassignment is contrary to Christian Values.” This win in North Dakota is a win for religious liberty.

Walker Wildmon, CEO of AFA Action, the Government Affairs Affiliate of the American Family Association, praised the federal court for taking a step in the right direction concerning religious freedom.

“The Biden administration is stopping at nothing to wage war on religious freedom,” says Wildmon. “Thankfully, the federal court intervened to stop this disastrous policy that would have forced doctors to violate their faith and conscience. This further highlights the importance of having constitutional judges on the federal judiciary both at the Supreme Court and lower court. AFA Action is researching originalist and constitutionalist judges to recommend to the next friendly administration.”
