Franklin Graham is asking Christians to join him in Washington, DC on September 26th for a prayer march.

Graham recently told the "Washington Watch with Tony Perkins" program that the event will feature no speakers or music; "We're going to pray," he said.

The plan is to begin at the Lincoln Memorial and march to the Capitol, "praying as we go," Graham continued. "Some people may walk faster. Some may go slower. It doesn't matter. Let's just fill the mall in Washington with people of prayer."

The march begins at 12:00 pm Eastern. It will last two hours and cover a distance of 1.8 miles.

"I ask people as they leave the city or as they come into the city, go down different streets and pray for those people in those buildings, and pray that our leaders would turn back to God," said Graham. "The only hope for this nation is God."

Participants are expected to follow applicable health and safety protocols, including the use of social distancing and a face mask, while in public and to monitor government orders that may impact travel. Anyone with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should refrain from participating in person.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is organizing the event.

"This is a dedicated prayer march," BGEA says on PrayerMarch2020.com, the website for the prayer march. "[This is] not a protest [and] not a political rally supporting any candidate or political party."
