Peace and Comfort

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world (John 16:33 NLT).

Real peace and comfort are in Jesus. He is the answer to all of our needs. He is our Rock and our Comforter. We should stop looking to the things of this world for what only He can provide.

Dear Lord, help those who are struggling with life look to you for all their needs. In your name, we pray. Amen.

Tuesday

Can't You See?

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” (John 8:12 NLT).

The Light of the world is available to everyone. Why do people choose to stumble around in darkness when The brightest Light of all time is waiting to shine on them and their path? If you can't see where you are going, isn't it time to turn on that Light? It's your choice, Lamp on or Lamp off. That choice has eternal consequences. Choose wisely.

Lord, bring those who don't know you to the realization that you are real and that you are God. Help them to see your bright light. Lord, I also ask that you help all those who have drifted away from your love, to be brought back to you. Reach out and wrap your amazing arms around those who are struggling with not being able to hear your voice. Come close to us, Lord. Come close. It's in your amazing name that we pray. Amen.

Wednesday

In the Valley

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).

We must always read and study God's Word, especially when we are going through trials, tribulations, and shaky times in life.

Father God, help us realize that we can't do this thing called life without you and your instructions. When we travel the gravel roads of this world, we need your “Roadmap” so we can know how to survive and thrive, through the sand, mud, and gravel of the dirty road. Lord, give us the desire to study Your Word so that we might draw nearer to you and help us understand that you are with us and will never leave us when we are on the mountaintops or in the valleys of life. I praise you and pray in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, Amen.

Thursday

Saved by Christ

This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life” (Romans 1:17 NLT).

The Good News! We are saved by His grace through our faith.

Thank You, Jesus!

Lord God, thank you for the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thank you for giving us a way to spend eternity in heaven with you. Father, help us to rely totally on you. Help us to trust and worship only you, not just today but forever. It's in the mighty name of Jesus that we pray, amen.

Friday

Call On His Name

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber (Psalm 121:2, 3 NLT).

When you are feeling down, tired, or even just plain "whooped," don't forget who has your back. Don't forget where you can look for help. Even when you can see no way out of the jam or "pickle" you have gotten yourself into, the Lord has your back. All you need to do is to call on His name, trusting that He hears your cries for help.

King James Version:

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13 KJV).

New Living Translation:

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13 NLT).

No matter the verse or the translation, His promise remains true. Trust in Him.

Father God, hear our pleas for help. We need you, Lord. We struggle through life without you. With you, we can accomplish all things. We praise you, Lord. Amen.

Saturday

Where Are You Standing?

For we cannot oppose the truth, but must always stand for the truth (2 Corinthians 13:8 NLT).

I know that I am standing on the Rock, Jesus Christ. Followers of Christ must always stand firm in God's Word. But our firm stand must be seasoned with love.

We know that God's Word is perfect and true, so we have the truth on our side. By proclaiming His truth and Word, no one should have an argument with us, for their argument is with God.

We should always proclaim and follow His guidance in our lives. I thank God every day for His Word so that I might know the difference between truth and lies; and so that I will also follow His direction for my life.

Dear Lord, help us share your truth with all people, not by beating them over the head with the Bible, but by our relationship with them and with you. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Sunday

Questions?

Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God, just like your faithful service is an offering to God. And I want all of you to share that joy. Yes, you should rejoice, and I will share your joy (Philippians 2:14-18 NLT).

We can all take a lesson from Paul's teachings in Philippians 2. After reading today's Scripture, I was convicted and had to ask myself some questions. You might also need to ask yourself these same questions.

1- Do I complain about what I'm asked to do?

2- Do I argue with people to avoid criticism?

3- Am I living a clean and innocent life?

4- Am I shining a bright light into this dark world?

5- Am I holding firmly to the truth that Jesus will come again?

6- Am I running the race that God gave me to run?

7- Will I be proud (not prideful) of how I shared Jesus with others?

8- Will I be able to rejoice that I lived a life of faithful service to God?

9- Will people see Christ's joy through me and my life?

10- Am I rejoicing in the salvation that Christ so generously provided me?

Just a few questions for myself. Maybe for you too?

Dear Father, help us be more like Jesus today than we were yesterday. Amen.
