Financial Crimes Agency advocates for bank account closures for conservative Christian groups

TUPELO, Miss. — Following the events of January 6, 2021, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network endorsed a list of “hate groups,” including conservative Christian organizations like Alliance Defending Freedom and the Family Research Council. These groups were labeled as “hate groups” in a report titled “Bankrolling Bigotry,” which highlighted their online funding strategies. The report identifies these Chrisitan organizations, who simply want the freedom to live according to their faith, with commonly recognized hate groups like white nationalists and Holocaust deniers. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the American Family Association (AFA, www.AFA.net) is also listed as a “hate group.”

AFA President Tim Wildmon urged Christians to get involved in society before an extremist radical agenda further threatens America’s Constitutional rights.

“The weaponization of the federal government under the iron-fisted rule of so-called ‘progressives’ continues at break-neck speed, threatening the rights guaranteed under the Constitution,” says Wildmon. “What is ironic –– and frightening –– is that the real hate group in this nation is the radical left. The members of this rather cultish segment of society hate God, hate the Bible, hate Christians, hate constitutional principles, and hate the Founding Fathers. Moreover, these professional haters have no problem putting their hostility into action, as evidenced by the pressure on financial institutions to ‘debank’ political and cultural enemies. This is going for the jugular –– that is, the lifeblood of Christian and other conservative groups. Followers of Christ must be involved in society as salt and light before spiritual darkness swallows up the freedoms that generations of Americans assumed were safe.”
