My real problem with the liberal/progressive ideology and agenda is really quite simple. It wants you to ignore the nose on the front of your face. It doesn’t matter what the subject is, how many facts you can muster in defense of your position, what your eyes just saw, or what empirical evidence you can produce. The liberals are right despite reality.
“Global warming is destroying the planet” they say, even though the empirical facts demonstrate there has been no atmospheric global warming since 1958 and the polar ice shelves are bigger and thicker than ever. I won’t waste time including a hyperlink proving this since the libs/progs have plenty of their own to say it is. But then there’s this: I live in the deep South and winters have been longer and colder and summers have been cooler and shorter. Don’t tell me the planet is getting warmer while I spend the whole summer cutting firewood for the winter.
“Islam is a religion of peace” is the liberal mantra of the hour. You can’t look to history for help in proving that thesis now can you? You can’t read the Koran either and come to that conclusion. Neither can you study the life of Mohammed and conclude that Islam is a religion of peace. “The violence is perpetrated by a few radical extremists” is the popular progressive excuse. Really? Then why were the streets filled with people of all ages in Muslim countries following 9/11 dancing, singing, and celebrating? Why is a mosque in Canada teaching four year olds how to behead infidels? Why has the Islamic government in Iran sentenced a group of kids who danced to the tune “Happy” to 6 months in jail and 91 lashes? And why did a young man who recently converted to Islam in an American prison behead one of his coworkers? No, I’m sorry, but I will not ignore the reality that is plain for all to see.
And for the life of me I cannot fathom why liberals/progressives believe the government can do much of anything effectively. It has never demonstrated the slightest bit of fiscal responsibility. It doesn’t know how to end a single entitlement program no matter how widespread the abuse of it has become. It can’t deliver the mail in a timely and cost effective manner. You see what it has done to our veterans when it hasn’t been watched closely. The Internal Revenue Service has become a byword for corruption and political targeting. Yet the liberals have turned American health care over to…the government! And what was the first fruit of that genius decision? Why the American taxpayer got hosed for tens of millions of dollars for a web site that didn’t work and still isn’t working right to this day! “Not to worry,” the libs say. The government will fix racism, poverty, and global warming for starters. My nose is itching.
My favorite, though, is the whole issue of homosexuality. The lib/progs are just besides themselves with pride about the legitimization of homosexuality in the American culture and legal system. Never mind reality. Don’t go to the CDC website to look at the facts about what goes along with the gay lifestyle. And if you’re a Christian and believe God is just fine with homosexuality try not to think what the implications are that AIDS is essentially a gay disease with no cure. Yeah, that’s right. It would mean God is endorsing a lifestyle that is unhealthy, destructive, and causes an early demise to the vast majority of it’s practitioners. And for goodness sake don’t demonstrate you have enough common sense to actually apply what you learned in biology at school to homosexuality like Phil Robertson did. You’re not supposed to actually consider what is going where when it comes to homosexuality. Just spread the blanket of love over it all.
The real problem with liberalism/progressivism is that it demands that you suspend rationality and good common sense. It requires you to say, “I didn’t see what I just saw.” It insists that the known facts that undermine their arguments don’t matter. It necessitates a complete disregard for what has been documented in history.
Global warming is melting the polar ice caps and will ultimately end humanity. Islam is a religion of peace. More government is what America needs. Homosexuality is healthy and holy. Right. Just pay no attention to the obvious consequences of undermining the family that the normalization of homosexuality is having. Keep smiling when you get that notification that you are losing your insurance because of Obamacare or that your premiums are going up, up, and away. And see if you can find something else to watch when you are all cuddled up on the couch this winter on one of your many many snow days with your gay lover other than the latest beheading video posted by adherents to that religion of peace.
As a friend of mine recently noted upon finding out that liberals in a Nebraska school district want teachers to start referring to boys and girls as “purple penguins”…”Liberals are awesome.”
