How to Prevent Truth Decay

DAILY STAND EMAIL

The Word of God is Truth.  When we read, listen to, and meditate on the Word of God, we are hearing and receiving truth. We need to know the truth and live by it.  And it is truth – God’s truth found in His Word - that sets us free.

To be free and to have freedom is not what many think it is.  True freedom is not the ability to do whatever an unredeemed person may choose to do.  Often, when human beings have that kind of freedom. people end up destroying themselves.  No, the ability to do whatever one may choose to do is not true freedom.  True freedom is - knowing the will of God and doing it.  This is where true freedom is found.  It is found In knowing and following God.

Shiprah and Puah, were two ordinary midwives in Exodus chapter one, who were placed in an extraordinary situation.  They were told by Pharaoh, probably the one of the most  powerful kings and rulers in world history, to do something that was wicked - something that was clearly wrong.  He commanded them to kill all the Hebrew baby boys at birth.  Pharoah, is of course, the law of the land of that day.  What he says is law.

Well, how did these two obscure Hebrew midwives respond? They completely refused to obey the King’s orders.  Why?  Because they feared God! They realized and knew that God did not want them to kill those precious baby boys, and so they did not do it.  Shiprah and Puah, stood up - they stood up for what was right.  They stood out - they did not go along with the crowd that would have decided “Well, I have to do what the King says.”  Because they knew that what the king said was against the will of God.  Again, they feared God, so God’s will was more important to them than the will of Pharaoh.  They stood for what was right.

We are to learn what is right from the Word of God, then courageously stand for that which is right.  And a key world is courageous.  Shiprah and Puah knew what was right and  they stood up for it – even to the point of facing possible death.  It appears that their courage was outstanding and firm.  These two women stand as great role models for the Church today.  We need to know the truth and stand courageously for that it.  Truth blesses us, empowers us, and sets us free.

So no matter what decisions the government may make, courageously stand for the truth!  You may ask, will my standing for truth make a difference, especially if it is unpopular and going against the grain of society?  Well, consider the difference Shiprah and  Puah made in standing for truth.  Pharoah ended up having to change his whole strategy.   And probably, Shiprah and Puah helped save the life of a little baby boy named Moses!  Know this.   Standing for truth always makes a difference! Make it your goal daily to learn truth, and once you learn it, courageously stand for it.  When you do, God will use you wonderfully!

So read the Word of God.  Read it daily, and grow daily in your knowledge of the truth of God’s Word.  Reading three chapters in the Bible daily bless your life.  And remember, reading your Bible daily will help to prevent truth decay.
