Sometimes, we all wonder if our efforts to engage the culture for good are making any difference at all. But then, something happens to show us that our faithfulness to the calling of upholding righteousness is rewarded.
That’s why I’m writing to you today.
I’ve just read an article on American Family News saying the Target Corporation has announced that it is planning a huge cut back on the number of stores that will carry LGBTQ-themed merchandise during Pride Month this June. Target has 1,956 stores.
In fact, almost all the stores are pulling back on the total number of LGBTQ products they’ll display, including “transgender swimsuits” and children-sized items.
This is a direct result of the backlash they received from folks like you and me last year. Target admitted that the backlash was responsible in part for a drop in its sales in its second quarter last year. You can see last year’s Action Alert that forced changes in the company here – Target stores showcase trans display.
We know the LGBTQ crowd is going to put pressure on Target to reverse its decision to cut back on “Pride” displays. Our resolve to convince the company to drop the offensive displays should be no less passionate.
As many of you know, AFA launched a Target boycott in April 2016 as a direct result of the company announcing that men who identify as women could access the changing rooms and restrooms of women and girls. This policy is a direct threat to women and girls as sexual predators may take advantage of this policy to gain access to their victims.
We’ve already seen that our actions DO make a difference. Let’s continue to stand for moral values when corporate America tries to undermine them.
